Managing tasks: create, duplicate, rename, move, and delete

You can have as many tasks as needed to help you complete your project or achieve your goals more systematically. In this article, we will walk through how to:

  • Create a new task

  • Duplicate a task

  • Rename a task

  • Move a task to another project

  • Delete a task

How to create a new task

To create a new task, follow the below steps:

  1. Inside a project, click the "Add task" button.

  2. Enter a task title and click "Create" or hit enter (return) on the keyboard.

When the project is under the Kanban view, the "Add task" button is located next to the name of each section. When the project is under the Calendar view, the “Add task” button will appear when you hover over a date. When the project is under the List view, the "Add task" button is located at the end of each section.

How to duplicate a task

Being able to duplicate a task can improve efficiency when creating repeatable workflows. To duplicate a task within the same project, follow the steps below:

  1. Inside the Kanban or List view, click on the three dots on the task card or row (right-click the task inside the calendar view).

  2. Select "Duplicate".

Alternatively, you can also duplicate a task to a different project. To duplicate a task to another project, follow the steps below:

  1. Inside of the Kanban or List view, click on the three dots on the task card or row (right-click the task inside the calendar view).

  2. Select "Copy to".

  3. Select the destination project you want to copy the task to.

  4. Click "Move".

💡Pro tip: To duplicate or copy all the tasks under a section to another project all at once, click the three-dot button at the top-right corner of the section and select the desired action.

How to rename a task

To rename a task, follow the below steps:

  1. Inside a task, click the task name directly.

  2. Give the task a new name.

  3. Click "Save".

Alternatively, if you're inside a project without a task opened, you can also click the three dots next to the task and select "Edit task details" to change its name.

How to move a task from one project to another

To move a task to another project, follow the steps below:

  1. Inside the Kanban or List view, click on the three dots on the task card or row (right-click the task inside the calendar view).

  2. Select "Move to".

  3. Select the destination project you want to move the task to.

  4. Click "Move".

💡Pro tip: To move all the tasks under a section to another project all at once, click the three-dot button at the top-right corner of the section and select the desired action.

How to delete a task

To delete a task, follow the steps below:

  1. Click on the three dots of the task.

  2. Select "Move to trash".

  3. Once the task has been moved to Trash, you can find them in the "Trash" folder in the left sidebar.

Note: The task will stay in Trash forever unless you manually delete it permanently or recover it.

To delete a task permanently, follow the steps below:

  1. Go into the "Trash" folder.

  2. Click on the three dots of the task.

  3. Select "Delete".
